Outdoor lighting — flood

A flood light is the workhorse of outdoor lighting: it has to survive weather, voltage instability, and years of thermal cycling while holding its lumen output. Our flood range is built around that reality rather than around a headline wattage. Every series is die-cast aluminium, IP65 sealed, and rated for wide-input mains so the same fixture ships to sites running anything from 100 V to 277 V.

The six series below cover distinct jobs. If you are lighting a logistics yard, a football pitch, a quarry, or a building façade, the correct choice is rarely the highest wattage — it is the series whose beam distribution, surge protection, and driver architecture match the site. DOB versus external-driver flood lights

Three of our flood series use DOB (driver-on-board) architecture, where the driver circuitry sits directly on the LED board instead of in a separate sealed compartment. That removes the electrolytic capacitors that usually fail first in hot climates, cuts the component count, and reduces the fixture depth and weight — which matters when you are mounting several hundred units on existing brackets.

The trade-off is that DOB drivers are less tolerant of dirty mains and offer fewer dimming options. Where the supply is unstable or the specification calls for flicker-free operation, the CE-EMC series uses a conventional isolated driver instead. For broadcast venues, retail interiors visible on camera, and anywhere the client will test for flicker, specify CE-EMC rather than a DOB series.

Surge protection and why 4 KV is not always enough

Most of the range carries 4 KV surge protection, which is adequate for grid-fed installations inside a building envelope or on short runs. The FLTO2 project series steps up to 6–8 KV, and that difference is what decides whether a batch survives its first electrical storm.

Specify the higher rating for long outdoor cable runs, pole-top mounting, coastal and desert sites with frequent switching transients, and any installation where replacing a failed fixture requires a crane. The cost delta per unit is small; the cost of a site revisit is not. Where local code requires it, we also fit external SPD modules as part of a custom build.

Reading lumen figures honestly

Lumen output across the range runs from roughly 3,000 lm on a 30 W unit to 48,000 lm on the 400 W FLTO2. Those are fixture lumens, not raw LED-package lumens, which is the number that actually matters for a lux calculation.

For a design, what you need is not total lumens but lux on the target surface, and that depends on mounting height, beam angle, and tilt as much as on the luminaire. Send us the area dimensions, mounting height, and required average lux and we will return a Dialux or Relux layout showing fixture count, positions, and uniformity ratio before you commit to a quantity.

Housing, sealing, and service life

All flood series use die-cast aluminium housings with the heatsink integrated into the body rather than bolted on, so heat moves out of the LED junction without relying on a thermal interface that degrades. Gaskets are moulded silicone, and the lens is tempered glass rather than polycarbonate — glass does not yellow under UV, which is the usual cause of a 20 to 30 percent light loss on cheap floods after two or three summers.

IP65 covers driving rain and dust, which is the correct rating for the overwhelming majority of outdoor mounting positions. If your fixtures will be washed down with a pressure jet or mounted where standing water can reach them, tell us and we will quote a higher ingress rating as a custom build.

Custom flood light production — OEM and ODM

We are a manufacturer, not a trading company, so a flood light does not have to come off the standard list. Private-label branding, your own carton and manual artwork, a specific driver or LED package, a non-standard colour temperature or beam angle, and a housing finish to your RAL reference are all routine changes against an existing series.

Where the requirement genuinely does not fit an existing platform we tool new housings. That is a longer path — design review, sample, then production — but it is how several of the series on this page started. LED flood light questions buyers ask

What is the minimum order quantity for LED flood lights?

Standard series from the list above can be quoted in project quantities without a large commitment, because they are already in production. Custom builds — private-label branding, a non-standard CCT, or a new housing — carry an MOQ that depends on how deep the change goes. Send your quantity and specification and we will state the MOQ in the quote rather than making you guess.

Are your flood lights CE and RoHS certified?

Yes. The range carries CE and RoHS, and the CE-EMC series additionally holds CE-EMC and CE-LVD for installations where electromagnetic compatibility and flicker performance are tested. We supply the certificates and test reports with the quotation so they can go straight into a tender submission.

What is the difference between a DOB flood light and a normal one?

In a DOB (driver-on-board) flood light the driver is integrated onto the LED board rather than housed separately. That removes the electrolytic capacitors that typically fail first in high ambient temperatures, and makes the fixture lighter and shallower. The trade-off is reduced tolerance of unstable mains and fewer dimming options, so on dirty supplies or flicker-tested specifications we recommend the externally driven CE-EMC series instead.

Can you provide photometric files for lighting design?

Yes — we supply IES and LDT files for the series and wattage you are specifying, so your designer can run the layout in Dialux or Relux. If you would rather we did the calculation, send the area dimensions, mounting height, and target average lux and we will return a layout with fixture count, positions, and uniformity ratio.

How do I choose the wattage for my flood light installation?

Not from the wattage. Start from the lux level the application requires, then work back through mounting height and beam angle to fixture output. A 200 W flood at 12 m and a 400 W flood at 20 m can deliver the same lux on the ground with very different uniformity. Tell us the area, the height, and the target lux and we will size it — that is a faster route than comparing wattage labels.

Do you ship flood lights for export, and how are they packed?

Yes. We are in Guzhen, Zhongshan, close to Shenzhen and Guangzhou ports, and we pack for export as standard — individual cartons inside master cartons, palletised for container loading. We regularly supply the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Europe, and can quote FOB or CIF as you prefer.
